Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not long back from the St Ann's & Harringay Area Forum.  One of the agenda items early in the evening was a brief undate on the redevelopment of the St Ann's Hospital site.*

The consultation document was supposed to be sent out to every household in the borough.  I am having residents say they know nothing about it!  It has got about 5 weeks to run but its absolutely essential that everyone has their say on this.

I am keen to know whether you have or have not received a copy of the consultation by post and which road you live on.  I certainly have not had one delivered.  It would be good to build up a picture locally so I can feed it back and make sure that everyone has a chance to have their say.

Many of us got booklets around Chestnuts Park, but agree that there was insufficient detail contained within to try and judge overall impact/outcome - many of the local residents associations have taken a keen interest in the plans.

Has any impact assessments been done for traffic, schools and other local amenities? Will the housing meet the minimum standards laid out in the London plan?

Following my raising of this issue at the St Ann's & Harringay Area Forum earlier this week, the chair has written to the Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust asking them to investigate.  I have also followed this up with them.

You can access the consultation document via the link in my original post, alternatively if you would like a hard copy then please let me know at karen.alexander.haringeylibdems@gmail.com

Not a sausage in Warham either.

We have also had nothing about this re-development and we live in Oakdale Road which is right next to St. Anns. I have seen the document in the library and have given it to the Head teacher of our childrens school St.Marys ( who had also not been consulted) despite the fact that the plans indicate that a new vehicle entrance will be positioned directly opposite the school !!!! Hertmitage Road, particularily near the bridge is a "accident waiting to happen" ( actually we did witness a child being knocked over there during the last 12 months) and before adding to the huge volume of traffic shouldn't the council be trying to make the roads safer ??

Do the plans include facilities such as  ie doctors, school places etc .........? No I thought not.

I made the same observation on the other thread. Anyone who has any experience of the traffic on that stretch of Hermitage Rd outside St Mary's (particularly at school pick-up/drop-off time when there is a lot of illegal parking, making the pavement impassable on the St Ann's side) would know that there is no way that it can take any more traffic, let alone cars trying to get in and out of the hospital. It's bad enough when a police car tries to get into the police car park, and the roundabout at the top is similarly snarled up in the mornings, afternoons and again at rush hour. Total madness. I wonder why on earth they have not considered an entrance on the other side of the site? Perhaps because they consulted with groups on that side of the site but haven't bothered at the other end?

"We have worked with local groups over the last two years to build broad support for a high level vision for the future of St Ann’s". Anyone know which local group they are talking about and what this "broad support" is?

Re the "broad support", please read my post here.

Nothing delivered in Clinton Rd, N15.

Not at Ravenstone Road, thanks for chasing. I used to work at St Anns so would be very interested in seeing what the proposals are.

Kerrie

Kerrie, You can see the proposals online here. They're readily available online. It's just the printed copies that haven't been distributed. If you're locally based during the day, you can also pop in to the hospital on Wednesdays 2 - 4 to a consultation surgery.

I live on Warham and I've not seen it

Nothing in Seaford Road N15

I wrote to David Lammy's office. They got in touch with the trust on my behalf and forwarded me the following (unacceptable) response. I will be writing back!

Mark,

Thanks for your email.

There have been a number of responses from the wide distribution of the public consultation document to-date. We recognise, however, that it has not been possible to deliver the document through individual letter boxes to every single household. We have checked with the distribution company and understand that this has arisen due to a number of practical reasons including some blocks of flats and gated developments. Accordingly, we have taken a number of steps to publicise the many available means through which people can get a copy of the document including: the Trust website at www.beh-mht.nhs.uk/stanns or email stanns@beh-mht.nhs.uk or telephone: 020 8442 5886. For example, this week we have undertaken a second round of major publicity via all the main local press outlets. We have issued a press release and taken quarter-page adverts in the Tottenham & Wood Green Journal and Hornsey & Crouch End Journal, Haringey Advertiser and Haringey Independent. We have also made contact with Harringay Online to promote the consultation exercise. We will also showcase the consultation in the highlighted feature section on Haringey Council's website.

Tomorrow we will be holding an open public event at the Turkish Cypriot centre, 628-630 Green Lanes from 2 to 8pm so that people can drop in to see the initial concept plans and share their views. People should not be worried if they have missed any of the open public events because they can come to one of the drop-in sessions that we are holding every Wednesday between 2 and 4pm until 1 August 2012 at the Oasis Restaurant at St Ann’s Hospital. They can also arrange alternative dates and times by calling 020 8442 5886. This venue should be convenient for residents who live near the St Ann's site. We are also happy to come out to meetings of local groups if invited.

There is still time for people to give their views as the public consultation runs until Friday 3 August 2012. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that all stakeholders have the opportunity to comment on the proposals to help us to further develop our plans for the site.

In regard to the proposed redevelopment, the initial concept diagram shows a high level plan of the proposed healthcare campus comprised of mental health and other services including the existing Moorfields Eye Hospital, Whittington Health community health services, North Middlesex Hospital and breast screening services and potentially other new services on just over a third of the site. The Trust is consulting on other possible uses for the remainder of the site including new homes, retail and community facilities. There are a number of community facilities in the area and the Trust is keen to hear views of residents regarding proposals for new community facilities that would complement those that current exist and meet identified needs. Residents are encouraged to send their ideas to us by completing a copy of the consultation questionnaire.

Thanks again for your email and I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Geoffrey
