Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not long back from the St Ann's & Harringay Area Forum.  One of the agenda items early in the evening was a brief undate on the redevelopment of the St Ann's Hospital site.*

The consultation document was supposed to be sent out to every household in the borough.  I am having residents say they know nothing about it!  It has got about 5 weeks to run but its absolutely essential that everyone has their say on this.

I am keen to know whether you have or have not received a copy of the consultation by post and which road you live on.  I certainly have not had one delivered.  It would be good to build up a picture locally so I can feed it back and make sure that everyone has a chance to have their say.

Not delivered to Avondale Road. Have seen it as I work at St Anns. Hard to picture it without seeing detailed plans of the housing they intend to deliver as this will cover a large part of the site. from the plan I was not clear where the parking would be found both for staff, hospital visitors and residents.

BEH MHT doesn't so much consult as inform.

For those who haven't seen it and want to the consultation doc was posted on HoL here. (Also added the link in your original post above)

Thanks Hugh - thats really useful.  Really need to get this out far and wide.  However, I remain concerned that the promise was to consult every household in the borough and this doesn't seem to have happened.

not delivered in our road in the Gardens, next door to St Ann's.

nor to Station Mansions on Wightman Rd. Pizza and Estate Agents blurb - yes.

not to lothair road north.

and, btw, nor on Hewitt

Nor Seymour - would it be easier to ask who DID get it?

We got it, as did most of my neighbours around Vartry/Heysham/StJohns Rd (N15).

I didn't find it particularly helpful though, and still feel quite ill-informed on the issues.

I heard about it from friends in Farrer Road (miles away) who got a pack but also know people in Avenue Road who got a pack. In Oakdale Road, neighbouring the site, we got nothing.

Also Oakdale Road and nothing. I think this should invalidate the consultation really. It seems the places that did get it are all quite far away from St Anns compared to those that didn't.

Are you joking? Invalidate the consult? Hah! Not in our Borough which has a strong record on consultations!!!!NOT!

That said, the St Anns hospital sits in an area  in the middle of several rail/tube stations but it isn't close to any, even by London standards. This is a serious consideration for travelling to/from the site. The consult document gives no clue as to the type of housing. Lets hope we get some innovative forward thinking ideas here and that they seize the opportunity  to build VERY HIGH QUALITY properties and not just seek to maximize return on investment as has happened at Hale Village, Wards Corner, Tottenham Spurs sites where the opportunities have been missed again and again and again just building in more future problems for our area. The architecture is just so prosaic and ordinary soetiems even mediocre. It really smacks of desperation to see things built as opposed to realy solving the area's chronic problems.

Haste makes waste. Don't I sound like a broken record? Riots 30 years ago...riots last year! Repeat, repeat, repeat..until someone seizes the real issues by the horns.
