UMREVILLE ROAD - just returned from work and found that my domestic rubbish has not been taken away along with my immediate neighbours. The bin had only a small amount of rubbish in 3 weeks ago so they didn't empty it and now I have waited the 2 weeks that are part of the new collection cycle. This morning the recycling bin was taken but not the 'very smelly' domestic bin -does anyone know when the collection is due - feel like my front garden is turning into a 3rd world tip - rats and foxes will be next.

You can find out when your bins are due to emptied via this page. I would advise that you also report it on the Report a Problem page.
If you look on haringey council it should tell you when the the new collection dates are scheduled for your street.
Cavendish Road is meant to be Thursday, and this week was meant to be black bin collection. Late this afternoon the green bins were collected but not the black one. I have just contacted Veolia to report it. The guy said that he had received a few calls today. He couldn't give me a time/day when it was going to be collected, but did tell me that they were working over the weekend.
It is worth reporting to the call centre as they will be able to keep track of the kind of service that we, as Haringey council tax payers, are receiving
This is a fairly common sight at the moment (not mine, may I add!)....
I also noticed that there are lots of bins appearing on the pavement, on Burgoyne about 3 or 4 houses had them lined up outside.
Oh the whole things in meltdown. And talking to Veolia today I got the distinct impression they're running to stand still.
Trying to plug into one's brain from here on in when each fortnightly collection is going to be ain't going to be fun.
Odds on they'll return to weekly collections within 8 months. It's happened elsewhere.
We were talking about that at home; my husband's theory is that the new bins add a small amount of time to the time taken at every address which adds up over time to a considerably longer time taken to cover the same area. If you think about it previously they just picked up the green boxes and emptied them into a huge bin which they wheeled down the street, and then emptied that once every five or so houses into the vehicle hopper. Much more time consuming now so I guess they can't cover as much ground. (Plus of course they have to nagivate their way through the maze of bins in some front gardens...). One theory anyway - no idea if it is true!
Our bins were collected at about 6pm today (Friday). Last week it was Saturday.
Alison, I just love 'nagivate'. But we're the ones who should be nagivating Veolia.
They've taken my 'dry' recycling 30 hours late but didn't pick up my foodbin because it's standing where it always stood next to where my old green crates stood, 1.5 metres from my new green wheelie bin which cannot stand on the ledge where my old green crates stood.
How do I translate all that into Veolian French?
And where's that smoothie French manager who, a few months ago, was promising us a brave new world of recycling?
