I've just seen two heavily laden Jewsons lorries driving down Burgoyne Road at 750am.
I understood that these lorries weren't meant to come down the Ladder streets, due to the weight they carry, and the impact on the judder bars and houses (does anyone else's house shake when they go past?)
I recall a forum about this a while ago, but if anyone has any ideas about who to complain directly to in the Council, please let me know.
Thanks!
Latest update: an email in from Jewsons. I suggest everyone who is affected by this problem email Baiba on a daily basis so we keep up the pressure, and let her know when we think the lorries are going too fast down our streets.

Hello Rebecca,
Thank you for your recent e-mail which has been passed to me as Branch Manager. Whilst there are no weight restrictions there are speed bumps in place which as you say should restrict our driver's speed. Your comments have been noted and we will try to monitor the situation and we will take appropriate action to ensure there is any necessary improvement in performance.
Regards

Mmmm - leaves me totally unconvinced. I think you may have to keep a bit of gentle coercive pressure up on this one.
There is a weight restriction! I know they get around it on access grounds, but as it is there surely this should make them slow down through consideration.
Jewsons just told me there is no weight restriction - if you can point me to the relevant council documents i'll forward them on to Baiba
In the meantime I suggest we spam Jewsons with emails!
As the email from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team (who are/were responisble for enforement) states, they hae access rights, but there are weight restrictions. It's not the clearest, but this picture shows a sign "7.5T Except for Access" at the bottom of Cavendish Road. https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=51.578793,-0.099204&spn=0.000003,... and this one at the top of Burgoyne - https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=51.577753,-0.104212&spn=0.000387,...
Not email - too easy to ignore. The public face of social media may well work better.
I agree. It is irresponsible of them to claim there is no weight restriction, when there is, but they rely on an 'access' exception to get around. Some (not all, see my comment about one conscientious driver above) of their drivers seem to forget they are driving through a residential area.
So - latest is that I was called by the marketing manager at Jewson, Mark Wright. He is in charge of their Facebook website. He is very keen to find out about this issue and how to get to the bottom of it. I felt like he listened and was inquisitive about the area and the impact on our roads and houses, but actions will definitely speak louder than words!
Mark says he will keep me updated on a daily basis about what they're planning on doing. In the meantime - keep up the posts, and lets see what we can achieve through some positive action.
The people running corporate social media sites seem very often to be much more responsive than the run of the mill customer relations types.
Sadly, I think we may be living in a honeymoon period and I fear that these empathic renegades will be replaced with customer service clones before long.
From Jewsons this morning:
@harringayonline we have replied to Rebecca via Facebook and are hoping to have this resolved as soon as possible.

I've just had Jewsons respond to my message on their Facebook page. They say they are keen to resolve the issue quickly (whatever that means!) and will give me a call soon. I'll keep you all updated.
Essentially, if I understand correctly, you would not mind them using your road if they did so respectfully. Is that correct? As it stands they are resident on Wightman road and so entitled to use that road, but NOT yours. It would be simple to collect evidence to prosecute them as they make so many trips.
