Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Looking for people to give talks/poetry readings/presentations at Stroud Green and Harringay library

The Friends of SG&H library are inviting local people to help us put on events at the library.

  • Do you have a particular hobby or interest you would be willing to talk about and/or demonstrate? Maybe run a workshop?
  • Are you an author or poet who would be prepared to do a reading of your work?
  • Have you an interesting experience you could share with us?
  • Would you like to lead a debate on some aspect of local or national community life?
  • Another idea?

...or do you know someone who might fit one of the above categories?

If you think you can help, please let me know

Liz

Hi Liz, I would love to come and talk about how and why we prepare our local Treasure Trails and run a mini-indoor treasure hunt based on photo clues, if FoSG&H Library would like that - maybe in the New Year, when I have had a chance to research and write a few more Trails for the Haringey area.

Kathy

Thanks Kathy. I'll pop you on our list and get back to you when we've done some planning. After New Year would be good.

HI,

I'd be very happy to do a poetry reading from my book "Is this really me?" I have a friend who could do music.

I am also a storyteller and I could do that as well either alone or with others.

I'd also be happy to do a talk on Druidry and or The Tarot.

Best,  Liz

Hi Liz,

I am a passionate crafter (and ex-teacher) and would be happy to run a workshop. I have varied interests e.g mosaic, stained glass and felt but probably the easiest and cheapest to organise would be felt jewellery

That all sounds brilliant. I'm putting a list together of offers and I'll be in touch with everyone after we've done some planning. Thanks v much Liz and Jacqueline
Somewhat different - I could do a talk about the early days of Lotus cars on Tottenham Lane in the 50s.
That would be great! Will add to my list and let you know.

could you add me to the list? i've written four books for girls aged 8+ (about witches, mainly) and one adult non-fiction title, Wild Irish Women. I'd be happy to do a reading from any of them.

Thanks Marian - will do

Really appreciating all these offers. Thank you all so much

We've had a planning meeting and made a rough outline for the year about when we are hoping people will come and talk to us.

Please, if you haven't already done so, could you send me a private message with your contact details on it so we can talk dates, times and some specifics of what you will do with us. You should be able to message me easily but let me know if there are problems.

More on HOL private mail can be read here

Hi Liz,

Earlier this year myself and Julie Welch published a book called The Ghost

of White Hart Lane. It's a biography of my late father John White (Spurs &

Scotland). The book also deals with the the effects of growing up with a famous

father I never knew, and how it has shaped my life.

We've done quite a few talks this year and would be delighted to talk about the

book at some point.
