Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Following the recent incident when masonry fell from the top of Rose Bakery on Green Lanes,
another building, third time in Grand Parade was found in need of emergency repairs during inspections.

Haringey Council conducted an emergency review of all the buildings along the road, and had to call in the fire briagde after one house needed “emergency attention”.

Councillor Alan Strickland, who ordered the urgent survey, said all homeowners have been contacted along the busy shopping parade warning them of their repsonsbility to maintain the buildings.

He said: “The maintenance and repair of buildings is the responsibility of the owners, but where we deem a building to be imminently dangerous, we will take emergency action to remove the danger and will charge the owner for that action."

Do any of our local shopkeepers actually own their own buildings?
If they do John the reality is possibly that the building is owned by more than one indiviual, and if you own the shop at the bottom, chances are you don't own the roof at the top. Certainly when we had the top flat in a terrace in Clapton we were (as leaseholders) soley responsible for the state of the roof....
Not sure about all, but Rob Chau (Tao Sports) does for example.

I cant be 100% sure but i think the following companies own the whole building:

Garden Ladder

Maqsood's sweet shop (the one by Warham Rd)

Agora (although they have gone bankrupt so that might have changed)

The barbershop next to the Salisbury

and the launderette between Warham and Seymour

The Beaconsfield Hotel

The Salisbury

The Old Ale Emporium

Disneys

Apologies if I am incorrect
