Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Four Haringey parks have been nominated by Haringey Council to receive Queen Elizabeth II status, under a scheme called Save a Space for Me to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge, operated by Fields in Trust, is a new campaign to protect 2012 outdoor recreational spaces in communities all across the country as a permanent living legacy of this great event.

The Haringey parks nominated are Albert Road Recreation Ground N22, Down Lane Park N17, Lordship Recreation Ground N17 and Muswell Hill Playing Fields N10.

The most voted for places will become designated QEII sites and will be protected by Deed from development in perpetuity. QEII sites will also be given priority when making future funding bids.

Voting is now open and will run until 18 November. For further information please visit the Save a Space for Me website.

Shameful that all parks are not already protected in perpetuity from developers.
