I am not sure what they can put there after they knock it down. The problem for most of these things (and the reason they are still there in the first place) is the amount of oil product residue that has seeped into the ground directly beneath the holder over the years, leading to massive ground contamination in many cases.... Something you cannot put houses on... No?

Unfortunately it seems 1000+ homes are going to built in the heartlands (if the planning permission is/has been granted)
