On Saturday 26th March, I joined a group of local families, mainly from Woodlands Park with a smattering of representatives from the Ladder Children's Centre, who, dismayed at the cuts to children's services, went to the large TUC organised march in Central London.
Here's a couple of pictures:
There's more pictures of the march in my Flickr set

Great video. I was so disappointed at the national coverage which didn't seem to convey the great atmosphere of the day. My favourite bit was booing Downing Street which I see you also did. I know - I'm a grown woman booing a road!
HAPS is asking people to support the NHS with a protest at the Clock Tower in Crouch End this Friday, 6pm, to put pressure on Lynne Featherstone FY.
Hi Helen
Yes, I agree with you about national coverage. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Good photos thank you. We were in this Woodlands group, it took us 3.5 hours to get to Big Ben and the children had had enough so we bailed at that point. So great to see some photos from a bit further on.
I too was very annoyed at the media coverage focusing mainly on violent tiny minority. But good news from UK uncut today - http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/mar/28/mps-investigate-corp...
Just to say that clicking on any of the photos will take you to the Flickr page where photos can be downloaded in a variety of sizes under Actions-View all sizes.

There was a lovely friendly atmosphere with lots of banter, singing and passion. I hope the politicians will reflect on the enormous turnout and on the hardship that is about to be unleashed.
Didn't you once post that you worked in the public sector? Does that "type" you?
Though I can't claim to have counted or done a survey, the people I saw on the march seemed to include a broad selection of worried and concerned human-being-types. Including some who were ready to make their point with a joke and a friendly smile.
Mr Hoyle, you asked: "Why have almost half the Labour Haringey councillors left Q1 in their register of interests blank?"
I assume you were told this by someone else. Because this information is online and if you'd made a simple check you'd have seen your statement was untrue.
When you posted this there were 34 Labour councillors. (There are now 33 as Cllr Adje is "Independent Labour".)
Only one person left the question about their employment blank. Ten others put "none"; or "retired"; or N/A. The other 23 (then including Cllr Adje) gave a description of their full or part-time work.
So 11 out of 34 is "almost half"?
And what exactly was your point, anyway? That people who are retired shouldn't be allowed to be councillors?
To err is human, Mr Hoyle. The best course is to admit mistaeks; correct them; and make a simple, and even graceful apology.
