Love Haringey: litter picks today, Finsbury Park and West Green
Hi all
As part of a new borough-wide campaign, Love Haringey, to create cleaner streets, greener neighbourhoods and local spaces that everyone can be proud of. The aim is to bring residents, community groups and the council together as we take action to tackle fly-tipping and litter and look after our green spaces.

Love Haringey includes regular community action days, such as litter picks, as part of a wider campaign, including public education and enforcement to stop fly tipping.
The kick off today is one of the community action days, with a big tidy up in Finsbury Park, meeting at Manor House Gate, at 11 am.
There's also a litter pick in West Green, organised by a local community group meeting at the corner of Caversham Rd and West Green Rd, also at 11am.
We realise it's late notice on this forum, and apologise for that but if you have a couple of hours spare and fancy joining you will be more than welcome! No need to bring anything but recommend sturdy shoes and some water. It's also just the start of the campaign and we'll share more updates and actions soon.

Is the next community litter pick at the Stanley Road pocket park? Shall we ask the kids from the school opposite to help collect the needles and other drug related items or do they need to do a safety course first?

THIS afternoon in Finsbury Park, with a litter picker I lifted a discarded syringe. This was just behind the Museum of Homelessness, close by one of the informal tents.
It was one of the first items I picked up. It was carefully and separately dealt with by Stroud Green Councillor Bethany Anderson, who also photographed it.
Unfortunately, FP has become a haven for drug dealing. As I said last week at the LCSP meeting in front of the five police officers, I've not seen so many dealers in the past.
On Friday I saw a police car parked opposite one of the likely dealing locations (the southern one by the bin & bench). The police presence appeared to have moved (displaced) the normal crew; I said to the Officer that it was good to see him there.

Clive, I totally hear you on the issues in FP too, it's complex but is very much understood as a concern.
