Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Police activity, several vans and a cordon, across Portland Gardens earlier this morning.  A small crowd of people gathered. Anyone have any information on what's going on?

Seems to be ending now, 9am.

No but I spoke to some men that had gathered and they said the police were involved in the kurdish centre there

Thanks. It's still ongoing, cordon still in place and a small crowd.  A bit of chanting going on now including 'shame on you'. I expect some information will be released at some point.

In German. https://anfdeutsch.com/aktuelles/razzia-in-kurdischem-gemeindezentr...

Various private homes raided, along with the KCC.

Thanks. I guessed it was something like this.

The BBC is now 'breaking' the story. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1lg37mrgd1o

Still ongoing. There was a crowd down the street when I walked past, by the time I was at green lanes station there was a crowd chanting in the road,

Yes, it doesn't look like ending anytime soon. More chanting now from the small crowd gathered in the street. I expect,  hope anyway, that the police liaison team is working with the Kurdish community who use the centre but are now shut out from it.

"Officers are carrying out searches at eight addresses across the capital, including the Kurdish Community Centre in "Haringey", as part of the investigation. The search is expected to last up to a fortnight, with the centre and surrounding area closed to the public in the meantime."

From the BBC report.

I saw that. Hopefully they aren't going to have this police cordon and presence here for a fortnight!

Six PKK terrorists arrested at the Kurdish ‘Community Centre’

What an area! It really does have it all.

imagine the terrorist money being laundered through those green lanes cash registers!

There is no mention of any arrests being made at the Kurdish Centre. I'm not sure why you feel the need to relay the news if you haven't taken time to read it.

The Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) was establish on this day in 1978. There were similar police actions this time last year. It's a PR exercise.

A bit more than that perhaps this time with six arrests across London. This time last year it was 'just' a TSG visit to the KCC from the Met - see https://harringayonline.com/forum/topics/territorial-support-vans-a...

Your point is well taken about the timing though.
