Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

London Groundwork was holding a consultation at Stationers Park today. The fort is going to be torn down and replaced. It looks like it will still be an adventurous play area but exactly what it will comprise is tbc.

Most of the parents there seemed very happy with the fort it is as it is,and in my opinion it's great. It does need to be replaced apparently due to rotten wood however hopefully you can still register your opinion as it would be a shame if things that are so good about it are lost.

There does't seem to be anything on their webiste about it however if you would like to let them know your there is a contact section.

Thanks for this Gillian. Is there any sense yet of what will replace it?
Well the ideas they were showing looked quite good actually - lots of netting, climbing, high walkways etc. Still much better and more adventurous than the usual. They asked us to sticker the things we especially liked. Maybe they want to move away from so much wood because of the maintenance? Anyway, apparently all still open to discussion. And someone from the organisation did state the intention that it should introduce a suitable level of risk - ie fun!
Hey, that sounds great.
A bit gutted about this, I love the fort (more to the point so does my son).

It seems a real shame to lose it, that park stands out by not having the same generic stuff that every other park around here seems to have. But Gillian's post sounds encouraging so I shall keep my fingers crossed ...
Oh No! I was sad enough when they took the giant tyre away (apparently, it was dangerous, but we managed to play on it without injury fine when we were growing up)- and now the fort! I hope that if it is replaced, it is with something similar and not one of the run of the mill adventure playgrounds you get in other parks. Stationers is fab as it is!
If you like the fort then please do let them (London Groundwork) know about it! This is the email address for the branch which covers Haringey and Islington - NL@groundwork.org.uk. I agree - while the new stuff looks like it could be great the fort is fantastic and it would be a real shame if it was replaced by something not quite so special. I've been waiting for my son to be big enough to take him on that big slide for ages and always feel tempted to jump on and have a go when I'm passing!
Thanks, have just done so.
Never mind the fort, what they want in Stationers Park more than anything else is toilets.
Always thought that the lack thereof was a subtle 'piss off' to everyone who used the park who wasn't a crouch end posho (reasoning that local kids can pop back for a wee at home whereas the rest of us had to take ours back to harringay or use the bushes).
We've just got to Crouch our Ends.
Us poshos use the loos at the Hornsey Vale Community Centre, just down the road - there is a notice on the notice board inviting you to do so!
Again, a cynical Crouch End-ite ploy; everyone knows people in Harringay can't read.
To be honest, crouching in the bushes may be preferable to using the toilets in some parks. I've never set foot in the Finsbury Park one again since last summer as it was so completely disgusting. The cafe loo at Priory Park is quite a challenge too.
