Mark, hope yo've notice our rider to Peter's comment - that is a declaration on his page that he's a former Harringay councillor.
Yup I did. THX. Made me smile. But I didn't go to Peter's page as I have no interest in which party he was elected for. That he was though makes it more important for a response. It is too easy to ignore.

Bottom line is I still wanted to take the time to tell Peter why I disagree with his (mis)representation of the thread. I see this sort of thing too much in my line of work, so find it really tough to let it pass (even when I know I should!).

And if everyone did it just once a year then...... well we would still have to do it wouldn't we, but eventually........

Overall I guess it's the same reason I write letters to newspapers.

Onwards!
When all the political handwringing is over, I for one will be getting back to work on Monday morning as a citizen activist and reminding our local councillors of the urgent need to now honour the public pledges made to South Harringay school regarding the playground and to make that one of their first jobs. After all no one can claim, they didn't know about it now.

May I remind everyone that our councillors are elected to serve the community, so waste no opportunity to let them know what you want. I really hope that Gina's timetable in this new admin will allow her to attend the local residents group LCSP regularly and that all 6 of our new councillors will be actively involved in making the Area Assembly a more effective tool for communication with residents.

As your new councillors will no doubt be drawing up their top priorities for the next 4 years, why not take the opportunity to draw up yours fellow voters and start planning how you intend to get your councillors involved in making them happen?
Pledges to support South Harringay School playground will be first on the agenda for Monday morning you can rest assure of that.

Cllr Karen Alexander
Liberal Democrat Member for Harringay Ward
Karen, congratulations on your election and it's great to hear the playground will be high on your list.
My previous comment seems to have been more incendiary than ever intended. The only accusation I made was discourtesy (“God help us” and a procession of posts wishing Gina hadn’t been elected is discourteous), and a suggestion that such views were unrepresentative of the wider community, evidenced by six successive local election victories.

As the Site Admin has clarified, I had the privilege of representing Harringay for four years alongside Gina. I know her to be a dedicated, industrious, principled and empathetic woman, and I’ll be robust in speaking up for her as in my experience she is no self promoter, she just gets on with the job.
So can you give us your thoughts on Alan Stanton, Charles Adje and Brian Haley too please?

Did you know Gina's 'close relative' well and could you give us your opinion of him to please?

Thanks Peter, always good to get inside info from people who've actually been in meetings with our elected and would be elected representatives.
