Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all,

I'm looking to book a car towards the end of next week and I'm wondering if it would be worth joining one of the local car clubs. Does anyone have experience with either Zipcar or Enterprise?  Any idea what prices you'd be looking at for a small car for a week? You seem to have to sign up to get a realistic idea and I'm not keen to sign up to something I may well not use!

Thanks!

I've been with, and very satisfied with Zipcar for several years now although I haven't used them recently. They now offer Flex cars too.

I'm off Philip Lane = Tottenham end of Haringey.

Yearly fee was waived this year but prices have gone up a bit....

Of course the prices include car road insurance and fuel. And you don't need to worry about getting a car permit or upkeep on a personal vehicle. So for the occasional user it is great.

A good tip is that you can get separate, cheap, top-up insurance online which also covers you for car rental abroad.

Another happy Zipcar user here. BUT I’d not advise using them for anything more than a days rental - once you need a car for longer it always works out cheaper to hire from one of national firms. I tend to use Sixt down on Caledonian Rd.

in terms of prices, Zipcar is great for rental for a few hours and local travel. There is a daily mileage cap of around 80 miles, with any miles over costing 25p a mile. Under that you don’t pay anything beyond the hire charge, which from memory is £8 plus ph depending on the car, up to about £80 for a days hire. The petrol is covered by the hire charge. Recently they’ve started a new model where the hourly fee is lower (£4) but you pay a fee of 29p per mile. That actually works out quite well for some trips.
