I was already sceptical because I grew up in India and every snake ever spotted was declared by someone or the other to be an "Eight foot long King Cobra! KING!" and usually turned out to be a grass snake or a rat viper. I figured someone must have seen a slow worm in Finsbury Park and Twitter did the rest. 

Turned out to be something else entirely in this case though:

definitely fake news - clue is in " poisonous snake"  - deadly if you eat them! as opposed to a venomous sake - sorry retired teacher!
