Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We went for the super oopmph package, but are so disappointed. The TV package never came. Two appointments, but no show, no reason, no explanation. Really difficult to get in touch. Should also have been two boosters. Nothing

How have other people found Virgin Media?

Is there anything other?

Anything better?

There is no bargepole long enough for me to touch Virgin. Plenty of complaints on here.

Search Virgin Media in the search box top right.

I have been with BT internet for many years and have had one outage in that time.

We were hoping re internet connection for BT Infinity, but despite a BT Exchange very close on our street corner, it apparently is not available.

Our councillors said it was a commercial issue, when we asked for support here in Seven Sisters.

Sometimes I wonder if the companies divy it up.

Also wonder why so many green boxes are open. Could they not have a better closing/securing mechanism? Is brown tape/bicycle elastic the best that can be done?

It's pretty bad, isn't it! You would think that BT, a big company, who must be making big profits for telephone and broadband services, could keep their "boxes" in better condition. At the least, it makes the boxes very unsightly.

I used to work on the helpdesk that took calls for repairs which often involved reports for open cabinets because they were green and assumed to belong to BT. After sending  engineers out nearly all of them belonged to cable companies and other telcos. BT were obliged to tape them up for safety reasons because they were the first on site.

The only boxes in our area are Virgin's, they're the ones that are open, not BT's.

Couldn't agree more, people seem to migrate to Virgin thinking that they must be the best approachable and reliable service and a business with morals. Sadly, many find out differently afterwards.

Oh dear. It's a long time since anyone could consider Mr "Virgin" Branson a kind of "hippy entrepreneur". His Virgin Trains have been ripping off the taxpayer for years. He is so rich he has a private island in a nice warm part of the world (near America). He has been hiding there ever since the pandemic began. I think a lot of people would fall off their seats laughing at the idea he ran "a business with morals". Funnily enough, I was at the launch, in a roof garden in Kensington, of Virgin Airlines (his partner in the original venture was someone who had been a student at the Polytechnic where I worked, so we got invited to cover it, for the house newsletter). It was a fun occasion, and at that time it was a real laugh to see him "cocking a snook" at old monopolist BA, dressed in an old-fashioned flying jacket, hat and goggles.

We have been with VM since before they were VM (Telewest, before that Cable London) and we remain with them as they are the only company offering fibre-optic cable connection to the home. However, their customer service has become worse and worse over the last couple of years (since before the pandemic and lockdown) and is now absolutely execrable. I managed to negotiate a big reduction in monthly payments, about six months ago, and so we are still with them. I've checked prices for BT (the "box" is only about 70 meters away, so only that distance would be via copper cable, ADSL compressed) but their price does not compare to the reduced rate we now have from Virgin Media.

I was with Virgin Media a few years ago. Very bad experience. I was constantly on the phone talking to their useless tech support and customer service. They kept giving me price reductions etc but the service was still awful. In the end I decided to go back to Plusnet and I don't regret it.

It was possible, at one time, to get through eventually to someone in the UK, who could actually help with the problem. Now, all calls go to overseas customer service centres, where the people have no authority to do anything. They just read questions and responses from their screens.

Are you aware they need to pay you compensation for missed appointments? https://www.virginmedia.com/help/automatic-compensation
