Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Nice to see that Haringey Council now has a photostream started about 2 months ago, including a lovely little set of Harringay Festival pictures

Well, not quite a Council photostream. They are photos from a new project called My Haringey. The initial batch are by David Tothill - who has this delicious shot of early morning mist in Downhills Park.

Festival shots are in a Flickr group - called My Haringey. This invites Flickr members to add photos:
"of your favourite parts of the borough; which showcase successful events; and which highlight work going on to make Haringey a better place to live, work or play in."
The photostream compares pretty much to most council photostreams, press pics and event recording. See this one from North Devon for example.

There's nothing wrong with that as a use for a stream, a lot of organisations use it that way
The My Haringey pool is not a bad idea either even if its governed by quite tight rules! It costs very little to set up a Flickr stream so the money aspect doesn't worry me

For me its a toe in the water, along with Haringey Libraries on Twitter, a sign that a few at the council at least are beginning to explore social media. I think, like most people when they begin, it will be a little conservative at first but we can only hope that they will start being more adventurous as they get to grips with it..
