Strange noise in the early hours of Thursday 5 November
Was anyone else woken up around 1-1:30am on Thursday monring (5 Nov) by a bizarre noise overhead that went on for a fair few minutes?
I thought it was too many sherries but my partner (sleeping at the front of the house - I snore) was woken at the same time. A helicopter? The sound was quite musical going from a low to a high note but quite complex. It seemed to travel over our house and I could hear it fading. Ear wax or something else?

Couldn't have described it better James and yes Storky, there was a musical sound inside of it. It sounded overhead rather than by the train tracks.

Me too, but it was more an eieieiei ting ting ti ting eieieiei intermixed with the sound of a distant train borne by the wind.

I live in Crouch End and was woken up by this around 2am and yes, it seemed overhead to me.

I think so. I don't remember in detail but it was very disturbing - especially to have roused me enough to look at the clock. I remember thinking that it was some kind of aircraft but didn't seem like any kind of plane or helicopter that I had ever heard. I do also remember the slow fading of the sound. Possibly a very low-flying hot air balloon with an engine like those things they use for advertising?
