It's Haringey Council Mr D. One of the poorest in the country with huge financial problems. Every penny counts and this just looks like waste to most.
So it looks like waste to most. If so, say so and leave it at that, I say.
Rather than going off on a barely-related whataboutery riff on a very specific issue. You're usually, in your many posts, a lot better than that.
I find that people that can't recognise the need for nuance on that sort of issue aren't smart/well-informed enough to bother engaging with. Unfortunately they also tend to be the people who shout the loudest on the internet, giving the misleading impression that their view is more mainstrean than it really is.
Have they won the highways maintenance contract? Must have missed the announcement
And rather than get annoyed at the government who've been systematiclaly slahsing Labour councils' funding for years now, you choose to go off on one about trans people. Classy.
If they waste TAXPAYERS' money on vanity projects like this they deserve to have their funding 'slashed', why don't they spend it on road safety features instead, or is that down to the DoT or TFL?.
Except that's not why they have their funding slashed.
The funding cuts are an ideological imposition by a government hellbent on depriving local areas so they can continue offering tax cuts to billionaires. That's why we all end up paying more council tax and that's why services are run into the groun.
Don't forget to give Jeremy his script back, albeit well-thumbed, yawn.
John didn't " go off " on trans people. As I read it, he was objecting to individuals and organisations that promote and facilitate irreversible surgery on young people.
Funny how keen you are to defend smears, accusations and inflammatory language like 'mutilate', buit take offence at 'going off on'. And what has his opinions about a support group for young trans kids got to do with anything else here? It's just indicative of how much bias and prejudice still surrounds LGBT issues and how quickly people jump from 'there's a rainbow crossing' to 'I hate organisations helping trans people'. Scary, really.
Unlike you, I don't take offence at anything in this thread.
. I was merely correcting your mistaken reading of John's post.
