Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I had to replace a cracked sash window and in the process the little screw-on knob that held it shut has vanished. Impossible to replace just the knob, you have to buy the whole fastening, and the new fittings don't fit the old (imperial) screws. The old fastenings have been painted over many times and would be a pain to replace.

So as a long shot, I'm just wondering if anyone has a spare one of these knocking around the house that I could have. The fitting is called a 'Brighton fastening' - if you google you'll get an idea of the type.

Sorry Hugh - can't seem to resize them or get them the right way up, but hopefully you get the idea...

Yes, sorry images are a bit of a problem at the moment. The platform hosts are apparently working on a fix.

I thought you might mean those. I'll have a look in my bits box see if I can find one.

Try contacting a few of the local sash window companies. A lot of the windows they remove and scrap will have those on.

Hi Maddy, we have these bolts. Our windows are being replaced so you can have one in ten days or so.

Yours if you want it.....

Great - where are you? Could pick up tomorrow.
