Two weekends of noise, disruption, antisocial behaviour & loss of half the park for four weeks when the park should be available for the people who live round and close by. No one to blame but the Haringey Councillors who agreed to this. If you experience problems and keep ringing their complaints line 020 8396 7701 - if people don’t log concerns the council will claim there is no problem.

Lots of possible sources of income and cut out some of the unnecessary spend on cosmetic work and moving an existing play area. The vast majority of people would prefer to keep the park all year minus the frills and minus the disruption, noise, litter and potential for trouble.
What frills? The park is the very definition of 'no frills' - it's an absolute joke compared to Clissold or Victoria Park.
It's dirty, unkempt, the coffee shop is like a bad trip from the 1970s, and the park brims with homeless and suspicious looking men loitering about, doing/selling drugs, day-drinking, and urinating in public. On most days it's no less depressing than on festival days.
hahahaha it's not just for you and local residents. Why does everyone feel so entitled? give up please
The biggest issue with Wireless is that Tim Westwood is on the lineup all 3 days in a row.
There have been problems of antisocial behaviour urinating robbery etc. around the park entrance a number of us have written to the Council and Police over the years but it’s got worse - we will certainly keep up the pressure for better enforcement and proper toilet provision. Throwing a huge commercial event in the park does not help as I fear the next few days will show. It seems the relatively small income gained has not made any difference - it’s got to be time for a rethink.
I follow them and contributed to their legal challenge - I will get more involved and I think others will as a few people are getting fed up and the Council are not interested.
Finsbury Park features prominently in this article - creeping privatisation of 'our' parks
https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/jul/05/revealed-how-london-...
I have to say trying to cycle through there yesterday - there did not seem much left of 'our' park.
The fencing with an added tilted top (interestingly added prior to Wireless) plus a second wire fence reminded me of Berlin in the 1970s. I also note that in the information sheet they included the Baseball field which is not open to the public in any case. The Tennis Courts and Skateboard park are this year hemmed in by fencing too and all of this to protect the promoters income.
The article suggests that opposition to all of this might have racist undertones - last year I heard a radio interview with the promoter desperately trying to peddle this line but frankly most of the people I have spoken to (who in any case reflect the multicultural nature of our community) are not interested in who the audience is just the problems all of this creates.
I agree - the old parkland walk is hemmed in by the high fence and railway and the whole area is dominated by the exceptionally high solid fence - I suspect the promoters have built it to prevent gate crashers and protect their income but i think it does feel intimidating.
The tennis courts and skate park are completely enclosed but open - must feel strange using them.
