Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

At last night's residents' meeting, our neighbourhood police reported a spike in blue badge thefts. This usually involves s smashed window along with the grab. So, if you or anyone you know has a blue badge, do try and remember not to leave it in the car and sabe yourself a lot of grief.

And do remember to get it BACK in the car before the CPZ comes back online in the morning!

Or get a Companion Badge

How does the Companion badge thingy work ?

It’s a Haringey Scheme designed to allow blue badge holders to remove the badges from their cars within the borough. Full details here.

its only available for residents so can’t be used for any out of borough residents visiting locally.

The badges get sold for hundreds, even thousands, of pounds apparently. What’s really needed is a national scheme along similar lines to Haringey’s companion one.

Thanks Hugh. I had noticed mention of a Companion Badge but I had assumed it was for a companion, which I don't have.

I'll apply forthwith :-)

Not a blue badge theft this, but a Thames Water van had it's driver's window smashed yesterday in broad daylight right outside the doctor's surgery, a few feet from Green Lanes. They were probably after a phone or something, but it's pretty brazen in a place where there is constant coming and going.

Drug addicts tend to be pretty brazen if they need a hit. It's a shame that their addictive personalities could not have been pointed in more constructive directions as teenagers.

I think blue badges are issued to people rather than vehicle, the idea being that whatever vehicles a person uses, they can make use of the badge. They’ve been numbered since 2012, but there’s still lots of misuse. I assume that enforcement isn’t strong enough to detect the misuse of stolen permits.
