Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just drove up Green lanes between Sainsbury’s and Manor House and encountered a very strong smell of gas. Have reported and apparently lots of others have too. In the meantime maybe don’t go for a walk in the area!

Currently there is one lane open, with traffic travelling in both directions, including buses, large lorries, bikes, etc. There are no traffic lights or personnel to manage the traffic, and seemingly no workers police, etc, anywhere to be seen.

That's quite outrageous. I wouldn't walk through the park at dusk let alone at 1 AM.

Works to continue until Sat 26th, as posted by Cadent on the roadworks.org website.

Many thanks Michael. It always helps when someone knows what they are doing! I guess the basis of the problem is the now familiar shortage of resources and staff. But if we don't complain formally the government will simply claim that cuts do not harm services.

Local authorities have a legal obligation to provide emergency planning and response and most of the staff who do the work on the ground are volunteer staff from the local authority (I used to be one in Camden) so no excuse really

Golly !!

I always thought that the name Grim Lanes was a bit silly but, having just taken 30 minutes from Manor House to Endymion Rd, I withdraw my objections.

I had posted that perhaps people should like to give feedback to Hackney on the emergency planning response to this incident, which I did do myself.  A very helpful person from Hackney got back to me and said that it was in fact Haringey who were coordinating the emergency civil response.  I’ve delete my original post and apologised to the person in Hackney for my mistake.  I’ll now try a bit of feedback to Haringey.

Good luck!
