Electric bike wanted for try out?
I've been thinking about purchasing an electric bike but don't know anyone who has one. I don't want to blow a lot of money on buying one only to find out that I won't use it for some unforeseen reason. Would anyone be prepared to loan me theirs for a couple of weekdays for a small fee or return favour? Perhaps over half term week...?
Would also be happy to hear any useful experiences anyone has of using/insuring said vehicles.

yes they do. But you may struggle to get through on the phone to them. Wood Green Halfords are diabolical but Chingford Halfords are not far and have a huge store and helpful staff....

I used Halfords Wood Green recently and had the BEST customer service in a long time. In fact, I went to their website to say how good it was. may be was I was lucky...

The thoughts that run through my head are the practicalities like security. Every two wheeled vehicle (mostly with engines) that I've ever owned has been stolen. Although you don't need insurance to ride an electric bike, my house insurance would only cover up to £500 for a bike theft. And that's a fraction of what they cost. At home I'm not worried because I will (at the expense of filthy floors no doubt) traipse it through the house and put it in the conservatory or garden. But at work it will have to be locked up outside in the middle of the celebrious Andover estate...that worries me! Do people take off the battery and take it indoors to make it less worth nicking?

I bought a Specialized Levo electric mtb and the first thing I did was up my insurance to cover bikes for up to £3500. Three weeks later my garden room was broken into and four bikes stolen along with lots of power tools. Insurance paid up no problem. There are relatively few electric bikes on the road but in all honesty I would not leave one in a public place under any circumstances.

Which then prompts the question "to fold or not to fold"? A foldable model can be taken indoors but takes the time and effort of dismantling before and after each use...is yours foldable?
