I really think these will only contribute to our littter issue as the openings are quite small and people will just leave the trash beside the bin (as they already do). Such a waste of money, in my opinion and an inappropriate solution to issue of littered roads in Harringay. I’ve attached a few photographs of my walk down Mattison Road (only from the passage down). Bins spilling over is not the issue and I would like to see the council invest in resources that make sense for our area.

Yesterday, I saw a man peeing into a street bin in broad daylight outside Shopping City. That's the kind of people we have to live with.

This paragraph really highlights how rubbish things are in our area. Who has ever seen a bin collected 3 times a week let alone once!

The council I work for trialled them. They get fill very quickly but people still try to ran rubbish in, causing then to break. These look like a different version though so perhaps they've tackled those issues.

I’ve no problem with trialing new ideas - solutions are rarely just one thing - but getting the basics right is surely a prerequisite?
As just a local example there has been a spate of mattress dumping on my street. I reported one particularly obnoxious pile of beds three times over a two week period, had the identity of the dumper and spoke to a witness from the shared house (who was as pissed off as I was) the dumping had come from. It was so bad (actually blocking the entire pavement) that me and one of the residents of the house shifted the pile so at least people could get by. Two more mattresses have just been dumped at the same address.
I’ve just looked at the Our Haringey app on my phone and I have reported 14 instances of dumped rubbish (not litter, deliberately dumped big piles of crap) in my street and adjoining streets in the last 30 days. This included one memorable occasion where the occupants of a house threw what seemed to be the entire contents of the upstairs room, wardrobes and all, onto the pavement and when I remonstrated with them I got a fruity earful and an object thrown as me as I walked away. I ended up sorting it out by tracking down the managing agent and getting slightly cross on the phone.
I agree with others about the contrast when you walk over the border into Hackney or Islington. Same demographic, similar funding issues but cleaner streets, including shopping streets that aren’t covered in cooking oil, food waste and piss.
Frankly I’m bloody sick of it.
