Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is anyone else having problems with their Virgin Media service? We live in Pemberton Road and have no phone or broadband. It's really frustrating as apparently their end there is no fault - so wanted to see if this is wider than just our home. Thanks

Yes, I see Zen require you to have a phone line with them or someone else... Which makes Virgin on a broadband only package competitive (especially if there is an installation/ initialisation fee as there is with Zen of £55)

We pay £54 for broadband, phone with free national calls. It is more than virgin - but it is so reliable we are able to use the wi-fi for BBC iplayer, netflix etc so have been able to drop cable TV package.

The price has not increased for a few years.

Thanks David.  I am currently on £62 and climbing...

yes we also had an outage last week that lasted several days. They are having network issues. if you put your post code into google with Virgin it will tell you.

Hello, Alice,

I had the above problem for years; poor and inconsistent availability of the Internet. They would make ‘adjustments’ or at one point, persuaded for me to upgrade, saying it would improve the service. Eventually, I had no Internet at any time, and after further investigations, it turned out the cable to the house was worn, as when I began with Virgin, they used the existing (probably 12 year old) cable. This was why the fault never showed on their checks. Since the cable has been changed, I have had no problems with connection. Apparently, it is their policy to simply connect to the existing cable - it might be worth having yours checked.

I wish I had persevered from the start, but was fobbed off with their ‘reasons’, including the one ‘in the evening/peak times, when a lot of people use the Internet, connection is slow’. I accepted that for too long and now don’t know myself, still excited by being able to trust that I will have Internet at any time.

I am also getting gradual price hikes, but I don’t have the energy to try and find another provider -I am so glad to have a reliable Internet service!

hi McFiji, how did you find out about the condition of cables? To be hones when we were with BT it was superslow and in general Virgin is more reliable so it's really hard to see what to do.
