I’m delighted to report that the drain in Green Lanes next to Duckett’s Common and opposite West Green Road is being cleared. According to the men doing the hard work, the frequent blockage is caused by tree roots.
As the nearest likely “culprit” is one of the beautiful plane trees, we’ll have a word with the borough’s arboricultural officer right after the election, if we’re fortunate enough to be elected, to see how the roots can be pruned without endangering the tree.

From what I see in France where they use thousands of London Planes for shade they tolerate being pruned top and bottom very well indeed! Hope it all goes with an 'itch...
