Nothing comes close to the fly-tipping by tenants of the bedsits next to the 'coffee shop' on Falkland Road. They have no refuse collection and dump all their rubbish right on their doorstep.

Lauren, I know you're constantly battling this one. Do you want to forward a link to this thread to Councillors Brabazon, Ibrahim and Adamou? Even when work wasn't going on at this property it had a seemingly inexhaustible supply of crap being dumped and with the works happening it's become even worse.
I think Veolia has a local area manager. Perhaps one of the councillors can contact her/him to knock on the door and read the riot act? Quite apart from the impact this property has on the street it must have cost a fortune over the last few years removing the regular stream of rubbish.

Veolia have been doing "village walks" with councillors around the borough I know they've done some in St Ann's ward, but not in Harringay ward as far as I know. These provide an opportunity for councillors to flag up hotspots to Veolia. There's another round coming up. Perhaps you might urge our councillors this side of the high street to get involved.

I saw three Veolia guys Wombelling down Pemberton today with litter grabber sticks. They were doing a glorified litter pick. I asked one of them if they had stopped coming down the street to sweep (especially given the amount of leaf litter accumulating at this time of year, filling drains which will then not work and mulching into corners and cracks to give rise to the 'greening' of Harringay we all increasingly 'enjoy'). He basically shrugged his shoulders and said 'bosses instructions'!
I do not remember the last time I saw a street being swept properly, and I am increasingly sick of wading through leaf litter (I often go and sweep it from around the raised beds on Pemberton) and I am increasingly noticing drains that will flood come a heavy winter rain! It seems to me to be a systematic policy of either reducing the service Veolia are contracted to provide so as to reduce the waste contract cost to Haringey, or Veolia taking the p**s because they know there is no one there either able or bothered to monitor their performance.
I will let our Councillors know, but I am not sure what they can/will do about it.

Yep, they wombled up Warham before continuing their excursion down your street Justin. What I couldn't grasp was why were they using litter pickers rather than pushing a broom. A broom would have cleared much more, it would have been simpler and probably quite a bit faster than individually picking up litter bit by bit. Seemed to me rather like going over a rug with tweezers rather than getting out Henry the Hoover. Makes you despair really.

The short answer is the council doesn’t care, veolia don’t care, the landlord doesn’t care, our local elected representatives don’t care. The only person who seems to care is me and after 5 years of it I’m looking to move out of Harringay and indeed London to somewhere nice. I’m sick of paying a premium to live amongst scumbags and their detritus and nobody doing anything about it.

I’ve just spoken to the builder. He said he will move the stuff outside the house today, but stuff on bridge isn’t his. I explained that this is the problem, flytipping attracts more flytipping.

Also everyone should use the harringay app to report dumped rubbish in situe, as its very good.
