Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not sure if I should clarify, this could be Royal Mail, The Post Office or Parcel Force- I am not clear, but one or all of them are going to fail.

I went to Islington last week and took a parcel I want to send to the US. The cost for the £20 product to be shipped- £43. You can imagine my reaction. I have since been online and found a parcel comparison web site that has found a service that will ship for under £16.

Unbelievable! Adapt and survive, not at the Post Office!

How heavy was it? I send light parcels of low value to New Zealand all the time and it costs about £6 to get them to the other side of the world. But the people at the post office I go to always try to upsell by quoting the most expensive price first I prefer going to a post office with self service machines. They can't argue.

It was 2.1kg. I went home & Googled "sending parcel to USA" and half a dozen comparison sites popped up and took me 2 mins each to get quotes. I will be dropping my parcel off on Green Lanes in 10 mins!

I think 2kg is the Post Office cut-off that moves the parcel into a higher price bracket.

It is.
Best to buy the item in the country of destination if possible, if you see what I mean. The PO seems intent on pricing itself out of the market. I rarely use them for parcels anymore.
Yes I only send small things. Other stuff I buy in NZ for free delivery to my family there.
