I have about 2-3 bin bags of papers that I need to shred. This is a one off situation so I don't want to buy a shredder. Does anyone know of a local shredding service?

The kind of shredder you can buy usually only takes a few sheets at a time so would take a while to shred three bin bags anyway. You could try putting in a bin (or bathtub?) full of water for a day or two, that will start turning it back into pulp.
I would love to know the answer. I have a shredder but I am in the same situation too much, it would take me days. I need something bigger and better too.
Hi Heather,
I phone around lots of companies that came up under google. Most of them would do a secure collection service for black sacks for shredding but the cheapest I could find was £80 for up to 6 black sacks. I only had 3 sacks so I ended up taking them to a removalist company in an industrial estate near Ikea called Britannia. They provided secure sacks for me to put all my shredding papers into. They charged a total of £36 (£12 per sack). The offices are very run down but the shredding service felt legitimate. 02088035151
Sue-Ellen,
Thank you ever so much for the information. I don't have nearly the amount you had but it seems to grow in my flat. I also don't have access to a car so I may have to sit for hours in the garden on a nice day and see what happens when I turn my back, will it grow even more when I am not watching!! Thanks again for the info.
