I voted for David Lammy because I am one of those lifetime Labour supporters - come what may BUT I do not like him very much based on the times that I have met and spoken with him. IF he did head the Labour party I would have to either stop voting or join the Green party - oerrh, I feel ill.

Sadly the Labour Party will move to the Right. The absence of democracy and the takeover by the right has meant a party of careerists without any real commitment to justice or progressive policies. Anyone who examines the career of David Lammy will see this. He is devoid of any recognisable or coherent ideas and is not liked or admired. He would never have won in H&WG as a warmonger and general all purpose yes man. People should give serious thought to joining the Greens especially Labourites who know in their heart that Socialism is gone from Labour and isn't coming back

You've been living too long in your bubble Philip. I'm afraid a Social Democratic option is the only option left of centre in the U.K. - and even that will now be very difficult to achieve once the tories start gerrymandering the constituency boundaries again - and they will, believe me, ASAP. Hornsey and Wood Green looks like a prime candidate for chopping up.
Labour had the opportunity to modernise the electoral system after the 97 election, but failed because it perceived 5,10 or 15 years of 'total power' as more worthwhile than a never ending 'democratic PR' consensus system. The public were shafted and have been by all governments ever since.
The Blair governments really acheived some great things and then went and blew it all by being more tory than the tories and browning their noses up Bush's backside. BTW, You'll see Cameron jetting off to Obama this week for the usual inaugural brown nosing.
I certainly did have that 1983 feeling again on Friday and Saturday. The class division and snobbery of those who somehow think they are better than most and vote tory to prove it, hasn't gone away and that is what needs and has to be fought and changed. Education, Education, Education.

You have perfectly illustrated the failure of Labour. Not sure what 'great things'Blair achieved except destroying the Middle East and precipitating financial meltdown before jumping ship and collecting millions from corrupt regimes. If that is the best we can hope for then the Greens are a viable alternative. You don't change society by voting for the people who cause the problem

He probably believes himself....self-delusional! Doing a LOT of damage locally by not giving direction and vision for Tottenham and allowing the undermining and slow destruction of the stronger elements of social society here, encouraging the flight of the better off, the expulsion of smaller entrepreneurial people not from the hard core groups who dominate the area's high streets and rental sector.
A really vapid personality (politically) and a disasater for Tottenham!

Billy I know you like to see the worst in people, but I don't think postcode issues are a problem. The main yuppie attraction is the housing and the transport links to the City. Not really something Tottenham folk have much need for.

Vocal underclass warriors give that impression perhaps. You'll recall the slagging off here of Tottenham Green Market and its management - and externally, repetitious FOI requests close to harassment.

Quite. I used to work in the city but did not work In The City. One of the incentives for moving to where I live was the ease of getting to Moorgate and later King Cross.

Exactly, and not just the " city", iworked in soho till quite recently and now White city and both are an easy enough cycle ride. So yes Tottenham is a great place to be based for getting around London whilst being one of the greenest boroughs, what's not to like? Relieved to hear that Chuka has bowed out, I didn't buy into all the hype about him, methinks that Lammy and Chuck found they didn't have anywhere near the support theiy were lead to believe by their London coterie

You had me there for a moment - Diane Abbott for Labour leader?? - but you mean as a candidate for Mayor of London. All this and appearing on 'This Week', the TV show with Portillo and Andrew Neil too. She did stand for Labour leader in 2010 but got nowhere.
Scary? Think of it as yet another episode of The Diane Abbott Show, more like.
