Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Monday, Sport England launched an initiative, aimed at encouraging all women – irrespective of age, skill or fitness to enjoy sport in life.

How little time we all have, men and women - to take up some sort of physical activity.

I'm going back to the gym tomorrow, honest.

BTW Do you all know that anyone in Haringey who's 65 or over can have a free pass to all the borough's Fusion sports facilities, off-peak (9-5 Mon-Fri). This is not to be sneezed at as even the concessions m'ship is about £20 a month. If you want to go on peak (or whatever the other hours are called) you pay £1.  This is a most excellent device that will of course save money in the long run or even very quickly, better to keep us healthy than pay to fix us.  It's quite hard to find this info on the Fusion website, if at all, so here I'm doing their PR for them.

Thanks Pam, I didn't know. Now there really isn't any excuse.

Anyone know if the Park Road refurb went ahead?

Work in progress

Looks as if everything but the main pool is done?

Hi Pam, can't find any reference to a free pass anywhere, only the concessionary advantage plus. Is the over 65 active card still current? How do you go about getting this? Looking for things for my DH to do in his looming retirement!

You fill in a form and bring proof of address and age eg passport. Nice shiny plastic card, yours on the spot. ker-ching.

It's very well hidden on the Fusion site. In fact it's not there at all IIRC. It comes under the concessions thing but no mention of age to get it totally free.

Pam you are a star, I feel I should get back into swimming now, my mum coached for 30 years, a great teacher, anyone who can swim in my hometown can swim because of her. She couldn't swim herself but did her level 2 with Bill Sweeteham, the ex British and Australian Olympic coach, it's over a year since she passed away, it makes me realise how important sport is to longevity, not just for your body but your mind.

Thanks Matt

As the mum of a very sporty girl, I love this.
