After nearly a two month mission, I was able to get the River Walk between Wightman Road and Hornsey station cleaned up.
I just have to write Thames Water one more time to get them to clean up the path from the Wightman Road entrance to the bridge.
I walked the pathway today and it's a very big improvement. The underwear hanging from the tree is gone as is the burnt suitcase.
If anyone has a problem with rubbish in the River Walk walkways in the borough, they come under the jurisdiction of Thames Water. The people there were very helpful.
The email address is customer.feedback@thameswater.co.uk
I will try to add some photos when I get a chance.

Thank you for doing this Cowper and passing on the useful info about how to get the area cleared up - it's a regular walk for the kids and me so we are grateful for your efforts.
Well done. I too have noticed a little more action recently (after a year or more of relative neglect). Someone has even painted over the grafiti on my wall. It looks as though something has changed.
That's great.
It's a walk I enjoy, too.
The main problems for Thames Water to deal with are:
(1) At the Wightman Rd end, the mudbath between the bridge and the inlet to the underground route for the New River as it heads through The Ladder area. Thames Water have occasionally put down gravel there, but after a few rainfalls this is useless and if the weather has been wet it is ill-advised, if not dangerous, to cross this large area in anything but heavy wellies. It just becomes a muddy bog without a dry patch anywhere. Thames Water should consider putting down a much more permanent surface which would make walking there much more pleasant in any weather.
(2) The other problems are at the Hornsey Station end where (a) people keep hanging multiple plastic bags full of who knows what, on and around the turnstile gate, and (b) young men seem to think it is acceptable to use the wall and shrubs just inside the gate as a public lavatory, in full view, in full daylight. (c) I have also found complete supplies of prescribed medication in bags hanging off the wall not far from there (which I removed as they were a serious health hazard).
So, there is plenty of work for Thames Water to do!
Well, Geoff, there's no sense telling us about your concerns. It's now your turn to act. We're just concerned citizens, just like you. If you want action, use the feedback form I have provided and send your concerns directly to Thames Water. That's the only way anything is going to get done. Too many people complain and not enough people complain to the right people.
I'll send a link to this discussion to that email address then shall I Cowpat? It's has 352 views so far...
Re the mudbath at the Wightman Rd end - several people have been pestering Thames Water to do something about that for years, or to let us fix it ourselves, and they have just now said they will do some work on this stretch of the path to make it safer for the public to cross. Not many details of what or when yet ...
No problem - was intending to do this early in the week, anyway, following your posting of the customer feedback link. But describing observations on HoL is often useful as it galvanizes others who may have had similar experiences - without your post I would not have been aware of yours and other's concerns regarding this stretch of the New River. Presumably you posted so that others would contribute their views and experience of the same issue.
Yes, I had a phone call from a helpful Case Manager at Thames Water a couple of days ago (3 Feb/15) to say that it was in response to my email to Customer Service and that they were deciding what was the best way to treat this area of ground. There had been discussions around Green-Crete (which I take to be http://www.forconstructionpros.com/press_release/10368315/new-geo-g...)
Anyway, it seems to be on Thames Water's radar. Let's hope they can make a significant improvement to this section of the New River Walk.
