Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Police activity, several vans and a cordon, across Portland Gardens earlier this morning.  A small crowd of people gathered. Anyone have any information on what's going on?

Seems to be ending now, 9am.

I remember that TSG raid well, it was pretty full on and quite frightening.

Police helicopter arrived at 1230 or so, doing lowest-possible-level circuits, perhaps attempt to identify protesters.

There have been some scuffles now between police and the crowd but it's remaining quiet.

There are more police than there are people in the crowd. The helicopter is very annoying. Not a good day to be working from home.

The helicopter thankfully went away. A bit of peace for a short while but now on the street there are 2 gazebos and some Kurdish music and dancing going on. If they can't get into their community centre some of the Kurdish people are having a celebration in the road in front of the police.

There are currently 22 police vans parked at McDonalds. 22!

That doesn't sound good. Seems rather OTT.

Helicopter left at 1410, back now [at dusk] at 1630. Information on rare event, not a complaint.

Helicopter back.

Many more people out there, quite a crush. Speeches going on now, lots of the f**k word. Police were trying to put down barriers but not got far with that. Looks like it's going to be a very long and noisy evening after quite a noisy day. I really hope no-one gets hurts, I'm hearing 'let's try to keep the violence to a minimum...' I'm sure most people out there don't want any violence

after a 2 hour shift, it looks like we get a bit of relief as it is heading back to Epping.

Police statement issued by the Met

I have "continuing concerns" about that bloody police helicopter.  Two hours (plus the time earlier) its been going round for what purpose?  If the police are trying to get people worked up they are succeeding.
