Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi

I have some family coming over and I think I need to get some temp parking tickets for my street which is St.Anns road (as its during the week and not on weekends)

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get some...

Many thanks

If you google 'Haringey Parking Permits'  you get to the council website and hopefully it will tell you all about it.

If you've tried it already, Marika, you'll have found that Maggie's advice works perfectly. Or click here to the paragraph you probably need.

Having said that, I found neither the web information nor the form totally clear.

Both on HoL and as a councillor, I've recently heard some complaints from people having a long wait when they went to the Payment Service at 247 High Road, Wood Green (next to the Civic Centre). So you might want to phone and ask them the best time to come. Also to be certain which documents you need to bring.

Your views on the service you get would be helpful. Thanks.

Alan

I've been using the parking Office for years and have always found them very helpful. It never takes more than 10 minutes.

In addition to proof of your residence. you may need to give them the registration no of the visiting car.

I agree: in years gone by there used to be queues, but things are much better now. I always find the staff very friendly and efficient.

You only need the car registration document for your own car: if you want visitors' permits you only need evidence that you live where you say (Council Tax, utility bill, etc.).

I have used the counter service several years running and found it quick and helpful.  Most recently I made what turned out to be the mistake of applying by post.  It took several weeks for the permits to arrive and then they were wrong (but this was quickly corrected).
We just go to the parking office in Wood Green and buy a variety of permits (one hour, two hour, days etc.) once a year as they are useful to have up your sleeve for unexpected visitors/tradesmen etc.  These can be used on any vehicle and there is no expiry on them.  Never takes more than 10 mins usually
Thanks everyone for your help!  x m
12 Minutes today - at lunchtime too.
It has usually been quick in the past but when I went a few weeks ago I had to queue for over an hour. There were not actually that many people in front of me (25-30 maybe) but it was incredibly slow - it was taking at least 5-10 minutes to servce each person. The very friendly and helpful woman behind the desk said there was a new computer system . . . hopefully this was a temporary problem that perhaps coincided when lots of permit renewals were due.

I went to the park shop 247 High Road, Wood Green (next to the Civic Centre), thankfully it took me about 10 mins! and they threw in an extra sheet of parking tickets just because I havent been there before! very nice. I think I went around 11.30am just before the lunch time rush!

Thanks again everyone!

Only free parking permits?

The staff are supposed to offer a complimentary bowl of soup, a plate of olive bread and a rendition of We're a Couple of Swells.
