Parking a Non-UK Car: CPZ?

Anyone got experience of parking permits for a non UK registered car?

I see there is a function now that you have to put in a number plant and 'add car' in the online booking web site before you can activate your parking permit. Not holding much hope out that it works for non-UK cars...

I have checked the Haringey web site and cannot see much of any help.
