He said: "It is by absolutely no means a scientific thing. But it didn't throw up any surprises as everyone knows the battle lines drawn down the middle of the borough.
"This was just a bit of fun. The general election is likely to be in 2010 so you just don't know how it's going to turn out."
John, as I'm sure you know, the London local elections are due in May next year.
So I assume the spokesperson's comment had in mind the possibility that the General and local election dates may coincide.
