My friend recommends http://www.jksl.com/ - has used them both in professional and personal capacity and very helpful!

I called Thames water as the Japanese knotweed was growing into my garden from the bank side. They poisoned the area and killed it been advised that they will poison it for a few years.
You can use salt by pouring some around the roots do not remove the it, but adding salt can damage the soil
Thanks, Sharon. I had a look at the website but it does seem very scaremongering. Not sure I can cope with that amount of horror!
Don't poison the knotweed when it's flowering or you'll give all your bee's a nasty death.

I believe you can remove it yourself, but this advice came from the last LCSP minutes:

"John [Forde, of the council] noted that knotweed will be taken away by Veolia, free of charge, via a special collection, provided it has been wrapped in 3 bags.  Residents also noted that applying SBK Brushwood Killer was an effective way of killing off the knotweed over time. "

So, call Violia, if you get no joy let me know and I will give you John Forde's number.

Hope that helps.
