Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

One of London’s narrowest houses is being put up for sale with a price tag of £235,000.

The terraced home in Haringay north London is just 83 inches wide and has a reception room, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs. There is also a loft.

The house was built in 1996 in a driveway between the neighbouring homes and had been rented out until a property developer bought it three months ago.

The owner said: “My friends said I was mad to buy it. But I knew I had to. I’m confident there are quirky people who will want to buy it — as it’s cheaper than many one-bedroom homes in this area.”

The owner added: “You can get £1,300 rent from a place like this. If I don’t sell it I’ll hang on to it.”

The house is to be auctioned by Camden based agents McHugh at the BAFTA headquarters on Piccadilly on October 1.

The narrowest house in London is believed to be a property on Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush, which is just 65 inches wide at its thinnest point. It last sold for £488,500 in 2006 but is now estimated to be worth around £950.000.

The narrowest house in Britain is in Millport on the island of Great Cumbrae of the North Ayrshire coast which is just 47 inches wide.

My son's 10 and he copied it for me!

Now if one of us had snapped this up in 2011 when PC Kelly pointed it out, we'd have been very happy bunnies today.

Think I'll leave it, pebble dash ain't my thing
Just walked past it and saw the auction sign - and came online to have a look at their website, then realised it was already on HoL!

That is stunning. My first thought was of the Mr Men character Mr Thin coming out the front door.

Do you know if any of the bedrooms are en suite?

Jacuzzi in the loft apparently

Ha ha.   My sister is selling a 6 bed + double fronted, period house in France for not much more than that!!!Actually if anyone is interested in a complete life style change from Harringay my sisters house is wonderful, its in Chateau du Loir (near Loire valley) and its been a successful B & B for thirty years, see  http://www.lanuitee.com/eng.html

Just popped up in my inbox - a look inside with ITV. It would drive me nuts.

........and also on Rightmove, a property for sale on Stanhope Gardens, described as follows:

Bairstow Eves are delighted to offer this four bedroom house situated on the very desirable 'Harringay Ladder'

Is a ladder with three uprights more stable?

And not one of you got in touch to correct the spelling in this article? Tsk.

'Twas on BBC London news last night as well
