Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Following an FOI request a load of traffic counts throughout the borough have been released.

They seem fairly random in a few different formats but anyone who is interested can download them here.

Thanks!

I think our Council have a lot of data we could use - the more eyes on the prize....

If only we could find out what they have. Seems shameful to have to FOI our own council for information they have absolutely no reason to keep secret. Does this mean our council hides everything by default?

As a matter of course, data we have paid for should be on their website  -Information wants to be free etc.

That may result in a more collaborative and informed culture and who doesn't want that?

For evidence-based decisions, if people could easily see clear representations of the traffic flow measures, surely being better informed like this will win more support for council actions and more ideas from interested locals.

Let's hope there is some internal Council scrutiny over FOI requests - might they realise that it's cheaper not to hide things, and enriches us as no extra cost?

I agree, having to resort to a FOI request is unacceptable, and completely against any principle of transparency.  For us Ladder residents,  we need to get hold of the traffic counts including  HGV's  that took place at the end of 2019 in order to assess the success or otherwise of the GLATS, which has had a disastrous impact on the area with every single road dominated by thousands of cars daily.  I could not see any data relating to this, any ideas anyone?

You get the information you ask for Annie.  If you as for all traffic count data you get all traffic count data!  Chris is right (above) that data transparency is the way to go and some councils do publish a huge amount of that.  In the meantime I’d suggest an FOI request with very well defined parameters

Traffic counts relating to -

type of vehicle

location(s)

dates

times or time bands

format (probably Excel or something useable in Excel)

This FOI related to a fairly specific area. FOI request and I think they probably just gave any set of counts that included that area.

They responded on time so having to do it through an FOI doesn't seem that much of an issue.

If people consistently request these things they may consider releasing them as a matter of course.

Completed the request, awaiting response.

Overloaded with stats yesterday, with 2016 stats (which I did not request) and some stats for 2019. Anybody care to have a look?

I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't just uploaded the same files. I may be interested if you can link to the request.

Having some technical issues with compressed zip folder

If you link to the original FOI request it should be possible for people to download it from there.

Trying again

I have tried to upload a compressed zip folder of 3.87MB with no success.  The information I have is as follows: ACT locations for Harringay Ladder 30.11.2020 . The following for two locations on Wightman Road between Cavendish and Duckett Roads and Fairfax and Falkland Roads.  There is a general summary, flow reporting, mean speed distributions, HGV%, speed bin distributions, speed bin map, vehicle type and classes from cycle to 5+axel artic and beyond and hourly flow summaries, all laid out in Excel.

This is where the ATC's were placed
