Hi all --
Is there a guerilla gardening group in Haringey? I've been to a few Hackney events but would like to also do something closer to home-- Wood Green. I've got a bunch of bulbs, so let me know if you're interested.

There are definately people doing some guerilla garedning in Haringey because I'm one of them. My wife and I have been keeping the two tubs at the foot of the clocktower in Crouch End planted up over the last 6 months. We started with some vegetable plants and have since replaced them at the begining of the autumn with some flowering plants.
My advice is just do it; find a plot you want to tidy up, gather some people you know (looks like you already have one willing helper from the replies) and go for it.
We have had nothing but compliments and good wishes and usually the council are only too happy for somebody to be taking an interest in their local environment.
Most of all it's fun! Good luck and best wishes

Great idea.
This is deviating but does anyone know why some of the ladder roads have planting by the entrances to the passage way and some don't? Has the planting on the roads which have been lucky enough to get it reduced the amount of dumping? I am sick of looking at dumped mattesses, furniture and worse on our road and was thinking that if there was a benefit then the council might be encouraged to build planting areas on all the roads where residents expressed an interest in maintaining it. Could be a nice way to get to know the neighbours and for the kids to take an interest in their community.

Not sure, but on Pemberton we have taken over the borders and you will have seen some sunflowers our kids planted in the summer. Originally they were planted out by the Infant's, I was told by Tinker, the head, before she left last school year. I think you just get out there and start plating out all those spare bulbs and bits and bats you have. We just planted out some lavender we had in window boxes that are now too small for the plants.
Liz had a great idea when I met her some time back, to sow sunflower seeds all over the ladder, I've collected as many as I can and hope to share seeds/ seedlings in the summer.
