Grainger plans to hang huge hoarding on Wards store
As the latest round in the eight-year saga of 'redevelopment ' at Wards Corner in Seven Sisters, Graingers the proposed developer (slash n burn version) has a planning proposal in to hang a hoarding of their fantasy of the plan across the locally listed shut-down department store:

As you may guess, those of us who think Grainger/LBH's plan is hideous don't want it. Not least does this fail to compliment the conservation area, it's a flagrant attempt by Grainger to disguise the devastating impact of their demolition plans and mislead people about the supposed benefits. The thing that I find most deceitful is the brand-alikes that imply the development is going to attract the likes of Pizza Express, HSBC and Starbucks. There is no need to make them so close to recognisable brands so the only possible intention is to imply "a certain sort" of company will be there without making any concrete commitment.
Look at any small retail mall within 1/2 mile of here and we know exactly what shops we will get. Yet I notice a distinct lack in the Grainger vision of Groggs, Piddy Power, Poundlander and Superbrug!

Well we now have the new and very busy Sainsburys in West Green Road, right in the bit that Grainger want to demolish, so that's a vote of confidence in the potential as it exists already. Grainger's original proposal listed Woolworths and Zavvi as target shops IIRC.

This developer and our lovely Council are so cynical that they want to mask and hide the redeeming attractive features of a building that Seven Sisters residenst would love to see restored. They continue with their shameful behaviour and half truths!
