Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The whole of CPZ GLA appears to be suspended for the festival. That means that while our car, with a resident's permit, is OK, we can't have any visitors with a car over the whole weekend. Including the family with young children I'd planned to have over. We've checked with the council and we can't use our visitor permits in any other zone. This seems a disproportionate penalty on residents - surely some streets in the zone could have been left available? Any ideas for a workaround?

I have just tweeted Haringey Council and received this response. The wording from the website link is also below. My understanding it that visitor permits can be used its just the hours of operation of the CPZ have been extended. My brother and family came last weekend and we gave them visitor permits (and a notice outside out house said the hours were extended then too) and we had no problem.

Wow - that's amazing. And the complete opposite of what the Council employees at Marcus Garvey told us this morning. They were adamant that visitors' permits weren't valid. Thank you for that. We will take the chance.

I think they were in operation last weekend too when we had visitors and we too used visitor permits (with baited breath I have to say). It was fine though, no ticket.

I think the signs could be clearer to avoid confusion though.

I agree. They’re very unclear.

There's been a similar discussion over on the main Wireless thread, in which a Finsbury Park CPZ resident pointed out that their visitors permits are endorsed as not valid on events days. The new Tottenham Matchday CPZ works the same way. Maybe the staff missed the difference in rules.

My GL A permits certainly have no such endorsement. The sign, below, just says "GL A [**] permit holders", without adding [at **] the words "residents and visitors" which would have spelt it out and which ought to be (I think) added next year.

Yes, that would do it.

All it does is extend CPZ hours. That doesn't stop deliveries, taxis etc.

To be fair - it doesn't say "Extension of CPZ hours". It says "Suspension of Parking". If it said the former, it would be less confusing.
