Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This is not really very important but I just wondered - does anyone else get a phenomenal number of Jehovah's Witnesses to their door on the Ladder? I have no gripe with JW but yesterday I had six people call at my door and the day before I had four. On average, I have about 12 JW callers a week (and sometimes other evangelical visitors too) knocking on my door.

I keep asking these JW - very politely - to tell their churches not to call on me as I'm not interested. I have to answer the door as I'm waiting for stuff to be delivered for work but I find it a bit annoying and scary when strangers call all the time (especially after reading all the stuff on here about scams with people coming to your door). Sometimes when I'm on the phone for work, they keep knocking until I go to the door thinking it's an emergency.

Anyway, just wondered if everyone on the Ladder comes across the same issue? Has anyone had any success getting evangelical converters to stop calling?

Unfortuanately last time I opened the door to 2 JWs,I had decided to be a kind buddhist and appear intersted, and even went as far as asking the foolhardy question

"what do you actually believe in"- the 2 women were overcome in glee replying "youve asked THE QUESTION"- they arranged to come back and visit me and possibly take me to 1 of their meetings

Thankfully my door bell broke the following week and so the last 6months have been blissfully peaceful and now I can see the benefits of no door bell

Think may have to change my approach somewhat if I ever fix my bell lol

I invited a couple of JW's in once.  We had a tea and then I asked, "So, what happens now?"  Well, they looked at each other and one replied, "I'm not sure, we've never been this far before."

That's hilarious! You have to feel for them. Glad they had a cup of tea.

I prefer JWs to other folk trying to get you to change energy providers or selling dodgy carpets.

Ruth, surely a true Jehovah's Witness's mission is to get you to think about changing your Energy Provider, once they've taken you through all the fine print?

I'll stick with my current Energy Provider thanks and no fine print!

In fact, I'll stick with just not answering the door and run the risk of being excluded from Paradise......

Oh that's absolutely classic.  Remind me to try it.

We get regular visits from the teenage branch of God Botherers Inc (not sure which denomination) as my teenage daughter was once nice to them.  Luckily they always ask for her by name, so I simply leave them to her.

I think she has now learnt the lesson, my parenting work here is done.

From HoL's Facebok page:

From: Melibea Kalista
It happened to me a lot, i live opposite the Jehovah's church or kingdom of the heavens. After asking them several times not to knock the door and post a sign on the door, without success, i had to go to the kingdom of the heavens and asked ...them not to come again, their security guard kicked me out of their church, they persisted, they still were caming every Sunday so i went back when everyone was going to their reunion, on good Friday and i asked, shouted to the queue NOT to knock any more at my house. and that's it, stopped! they don't come anymore. It was hard but i succeded.

The note on the door says:
this is a religious free zone, please Jehova Witneses do not knock the door.
