Just want to moan really; for several hours this afternoon there has been a group of seven people at the bottom of Beresford Road just, basically, partying. You know, chatting shit and such. They've got their balloons and their cannisters and their spliffs, the car doors are all open and they're having a fun time for a Friday afternoon. Meanwhile the children are coming home from school, people are out and about doing their shopping or coming back from work, leading what I would call normal lives.
I find it depressing that people feel so untouchable they can hang out on ladder streets doing what they want.
In the same afternoon, I've just seen open dealing, buying and using in the passage. I suspect from the state of the three men sitting down, there was spice involved.
No, I didn't call the police.
Laura, I understand why it feels pointless phoning 101 (or 999 if an actual crime is taking place) but without us reporting it nothing will get done. As it happens I was talking to the police about ASB today and he assured me that if someone completes the online form that the info goes straightaway to the Borough. Useful if you have no time to hang on a telephone line. It can’t hurt to complete it and if enough of us do so then the police will target the area. It’s also worth dropping a copy of the report to the LCSP the local group that concentrates on safety lcsp@blueyonder.co.uk as they liaise with local police.
