Dead Cats
Dear All,
it is sad to tell you that another cat has fallen victim of the ferocious Fox roaming about our back gardens. after three weeks or so that one white cat was killed by this fox, this morning another brown cat was found dead.
It has been reported to RSPCA and the council. The Council could not kill the fox because the law protects them.
So if you you are looking for your cat, and kt is brown, you might have lost it in this horrific accident.
Accept our condolence. What can we do to stop this?

Hi,
It was our white cat you found in your garden sadly, and since last night we are missing its replacement, I'm really hoping this latest victim isn't it.
Was it definitely brown?
We are missing a small semi long haired gingery cat. She is very vulnerable as currently under treatment for an infection (she slipped past the dog last night).
Please god I hope it wasn't her.
Failing that, if anyone sees little Peaches (manky eyes) please contact me. We are really not having any luck with cats lately.

There was another post last week about someone missing a cat (fox suspected again) on Wightman Road.

There was a speight of DIY posioning a couple of years back I seem to remember, and I fear that if the council won't control this pest problem then someone will only take matters into their own hands again.
The fox population I believe is a strong controlling factor on the rat population so I would prefer a targetted extermination programme rather than mass posioning

Yes, I have found two fox-dumped rats in my back garden but so far, thankfully, no cats.
They do get the rats. It would be remarkable if they were running short of those...

So sorry to hear this - its a real worry. Condolences to those who have lost beloved pets. I will take it up again with the council to see if there is anything more that can be done.

I am very sorry for anyone who has lost a cat but am strongly against DIY poisoning. Poison - not a fox- could have led to a cat of mine becoming very ill and dying - according the vet I took him to.

I'm also concerned about this - one of our cats has been to the vets twice in recent weeks with what I suspect was an injury following a run in with a fox - our neighbours cat also took a beating yesterday.
Are there any sensible steps people can take? The last thing we want is poison wielding vigilantes roaming our streets...

I just heard a very awful noise that could have been cat related outside (near the river path), can't see anything.
Really hope there is something that can be done...maybe move the fox away from somewhere so densely populated...
You'd think there would be rich pickings by the river. I've caught him in my recycling bin too - now unless he's partial to wine, he'll not find anything in there.

I would really recommend that people shut their cats indoors after dark. The evening and night is when cats are at more risk of being attacked by foxes or hit by a car.
