Yes, the map is certainly good with some wonderful graphics. I especially like the banking of aircraft over London, as well as which areas, streets are twittered the most. Can really recommend this book http://theinformationcapital.com/ which is well worth the money.
Notice: Haringey doesn't always do badly: http://theinformationcapital.com/project/islington-has-issues/
Just one last point. No, CR2 doesn't address the Hackney 'red gap'. Stations are only planned at Dalston & Hackney Central. Nothing for Northern Hackney (Stamford Hill or Stoke Newington).
Yes a link, is provided up the Lea Valley, but nothing across into Waltham Forest & Redbridge. But that's where the flow goes - North Eastwards.
Which brings me back to my first comment. I don't much approve of this proposal (north of Dalston) at all.
Unbelievably, my housemate just bought me this book for Christmas. the historical overlay maps are amazing. Strongly recommended!
haha, have fun..
Hey, have you seen this '2050' diagram ?
http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/the-tube-map-of-the-future-is...
It does include CR2 and a station has been added at Stoke Newington.
Sadly, no one has thought about the possibility of extending the DLR from Stratford to Tottenahm Hale. I'd like to see that, with perhaps a connection to Wood Green, as well as to Walthamstow Central.
Also the Northern Line hasn't been split into two (Northern & Southern Line??), although by then, it will be operating as two separate lines.
Seems like splitting the Northern Line might no longer be on: http://www.londonreconnections.com/2015/northern-line-timetable-for...
DLR to Tottenham has certainly been considered: http://www.londonreconnections.com/2009/dlr-horizon-2020-stratford-...
This is the most useful link I have found:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/crossrail-2-safeguardin...
And FAQs for the safeguarding consultation:
Safeguarding is putting additional planning controls in place so that TFL will be notified of any planning applications within the safeguarded area and will be able to prevent certain types of building. It's basically protecting the possible route.
The current plan has trains emerging at Southgate and Tottenham Hale so around here the route is underground. For most of us that puts us in or near Land Subject to Consultation and TFL will only be interested in planing applications that involve underground work, 3 metre foundations etc.
Statutory Blight I think applies if you try to sell your home and cannot achieve the price you would have done without the Safeguarding. If you qualify and can prove it you can force (the government? TFL? not sure) to buy your property at the unblighted value. I'm pretty sure it doesn't apply if you are near but not actually in the safeguarded areas.
The Areas of Surface Interest are stations, ventilation shafts, works access etc. Looking at the maps (map 40) I think the Area of Surface Interest near Langham Road is Turnpike Lane tube and bus stations, which will need to be upgraded with tunnels and platforms for the new line.
And - it's not a done deal at all. They may never build it, or they may change the route again. If it does happen, building is planned for 2020-2030
I'm in a similar position in N15. We are about 100M from Seven Sisters station which is also an Area of Surface Interest. I am not hugely worried about it TBH.
Thank you for this. Looks like my kitchen and bathroom are in the safeguarding zone and my bedroom/living room are not...
Yes,I had a letter, a circular and a pamphlet. There were links to the various websites others have mentioned among them.
My garden, or 95% of it, comes within two lines, which probably means a tunnel underneath. They're definitely NOT going to put an air vent in the middle of my garden - assuming I have that much say in the matter?
Oh joy. Oh deep, deep, joy.
