Just wanted to give a huge recommendation for Yaalu Yaalu - Sri Lanka restaurant corner of Cavendish Road and Green Lanes.
Ate there last night. The food was delicious - fresh and full of amazing flavours
Really good value and lovely atmosphere, attentive staff.
So refreshing for Green Lanes.

It is genuinely great. The jackfruit and lotus root dishes are surprise veggie delights, in addition to the range of meat items. There's just one fish dish - tuna I think - which I felt didn't match up to the rest.
Ah interesting. I had the tuna and I thought it was very tasty
Tamarind type sauce. Am looking forward to trying more dishes inc the jackfruit curry.
We have eaten there on 3 occasions - and endorse your recommendation. The food was good and so was the service.
More fans here. We've eaten there a few times now and the flavours are sensational. Took a friend who is a real foodie (has food blog, does pop-ups, knows his onions etc) and he declared it one of the best places he's eaten at in London. Breath of fresh air on Green Lanes.
Really enjoyed the flavour of everything we’ve tried there on our two visits. Some really nice vegetarian options, too and such a welcome new choice to have on Green Lanes.
i wouldn’t change much about the things we tried except maybe reduce the oilyness and also they leave a lot of bone and inedible things (pods, leaves, bark) in some of the dishes we had making them a bit of a task to eat and share.
Overall we love it and will go again.
I went just after it opened and loved the food, but they were still finding their feet service wise. A table next to us walked out and we waited yonks for food (it was worth it, mind)
Am I to understand from these comments that this has been sorted?
Didn't have that sort of issue but I did feel the serving staff while attentive and working hard were a bit unfamiliar with the food and unsure with it. Different experience when the owners are around.
Fair enough - it felt like they were a couple of staff short which, to be fair, can happen early on in the existence of any restaurant.
I certainly couldn't fault the food.
Not sure the service quality has improved since they opened. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday at noon and although the restaurant wasn't full, we got bad service. They forgot completely to bring a drink which we didn't really bother to remind them about as by the time we could get the waitress' attention we had finished the meal. Also, I had ordered a desert that was a curd with palm syrup and sesame chunks. One of the three ingredients was missing and the guy justified it by saying it was Sunday and they hadn't received a delivery of sesame!
The food is great and everyone agreed it was delicious, but after giving this restaurant three chances to get the service right I think I won't be going back for a while...
Lets hope it lasts the Turksh rstaurant monoculture is overbearing
We went last week and the food was delicious and staff very attentive but not overbearing. Great to have a good new restaurant in the area. We didn’t have to wait too long. Also one of our group needed gluten and dairy free food and they catered for her very happily.
