Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
All 3 Haringey paddling pools out of action
To save anyone else the same faff we’ve just encountered - please be aware that ALL THREE of Haringey’s paddling pools are currently out of order! All of them were due to open today - but none of them have (and Priory Park is out of action for a longer period). What with Clissold Park also being out of action for potentially the next 6 weeks, it’s not looking good for children’s water play in our local area. (My additional particular irritation is that when I checked on the pools and opening dates literally 2 days ago, they were all still anticipated as opening - hence my fruitless search for cooling down options today…!)

So, an update on/ addition to this.
A recently arrived neighbour messages on the street WA group they have got a number of tickets for driving into Pemberton (they live here and have a valid parking permit). They have been told the tickets cannot be overturned (which is wrong). At no point were they told they could seek a permit that would exempt them and save them getting further tickets, and have to keep calling the council to establish what is going on. Why they were not (in essence) issued one without having to even apply - thought a link to their parking permit - is beyond me.
They have appealed the tickets, and I have told them to go see one of their councilors at their surgery to establish whether the tickets can be revoked- remember they had every right to be moving on Pemberton, but for having not jumped through an demonstrative hoop.
These things should be frictionless in the 21st Century. Why does it need a councilor to get involved to solve a problem that did not need to be created in the first place.

It's sensible to get onto the new councillors quickly to try to set our expectations, but they are not idiots. A school child understands the differing power structures of governments (political and bureaucratic).
I voted for fresh, new energy in the Council, not to have them listen to the same tired old voices boomersplaining their contributions to the failed council of the past. Let the new people and their new approaches have a go. I'm going to hope that they don't include alienating their colleagues and council officers by constantly and publicly undermining them. That alone will likely make them more productive than those who are still burdened by personal and political grievance. They will make mistakes but hopefully they will plough their own more bountiful furrow than the generation before them.

Clive, are any Haringey paddling pools now filled and working?
It was interesting to read about the boroughs which recycle water. Does Haringey, and if not has it plans to do so?

Some success Alan- this is Priory Park about 10 days ago. Meant to post and flag, but forgot. Hopefully it is complete now and open for the summer.

Sadly I am back to being a cynic. I went past today and the barriers were still up around the pool.... Summer is already here folks. Guess it may be ready by September.

Many thanks, Justin Guest, for the update. And for your photo which tells a clear story.
Would it be possible to have a temporary suspension of cynicism; and of guesswork.
Instead let's pretend that the Duty of Candour now operates.Also that everybody cares only about children having enjoyable access to safe clean water in all the other paddling pools.
And if not, a brief, candid, truthful explanation of which others aren't working and why not.

I can be very candid Alan. This first photo was taken on the 11th of July amid a buzz of activity. I went by this morning (17 days later- 28th July) about the same time this was originally taken and there was no one there, just fencing. School holidays started on 17th July.
Appreciate you don't want this to be a moan fest - fair enough.
