The old Odeon in Muswell Hill was recently bought by Everyman along with three other London cinemas. They've started the process of uncovering the art-deco at the cinema and things are looking good. I'm really looking forward to seeking it when its finished. The original hard floor in the foyer (above) when they've got rid of the old glue and given it a polish should look spectacular. I hope my phone picture does it justice.

It looks great. i hope they change the sound system though as the clarity was poor and so loud that I couldn't watch films there; I look forward to the referb'.
I used to go to The Silver Screen matinees on Tuesdays when the sound was fine. I've had to walk out of other cinemas because the sound was set so high it gave me a headache.
Oooh it looks amazing. Looking forward to the finished article! Muswell Hill is a bit of a trek from South Tottenham but I would make the effort.
On foot yes...but you can catch a 41 and then..some other bus (i forget the number now) to Muzzy
Nice one...
my grandchildren live in MH and the Odeon would have been convenient but we couldn't go there because the oppressively loud noise gave my grandson headaches I lived near the Everyman in Hampstead for many years and still treasure memories of some of the classic films.
I used to go often to the Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square ( convenient for the Piccadilly Line from Turnpike Lane ) http://www.princecharlescinema.com/index.php which shows a wide variety of non-mainstream, foreign and revival films.
Also singalonga/yourfavouritemusicalhere if that's your bag.
Admission is amazingly cheap, particularly if you take out membership.
Sadly, like most cinemas, they now play the sound track at much too high a level and I've stopped going. Are they catering for a younger audience with significant hearing loss after clubbing / Wireless festivals?
